The Friends of Viola/Dias aim to secure the long-term preservation of this remarkable vessel either in its current location at Grytviken in South Georgia or in its original home port of Kingston-upon-Hull, England.

Objectives

• To continually raise awareness of the Vessel and its historic value
• To secure funds to carry out more immediate and short term restoration of the vessel, if necessary in situ.
• To raise sufficient resources to carry out a survey of the vessel in order to ascertain whether t can be safely moved.
• To develop a strategy for its long term preservation and use in an appropriate context either in Britain or South Georgia.
• To raise sufficient funding to secure the success of such a strategy
• To support the Government of South Georgia and other key players in ensuring the long term well-being of the island, its unique natural environment and industrial archaeology.
